Who Says 30 Sucks?!

My sister-in-law is turning 30 and I was perusing Pinterest to find gift possibilities for the surprise party my mother-in-law is throwing. She isn't all that enthused about entering a new decade and I saw something that was inexpensive and a little humorous for the occasion.

So I modified it a little to put on a positive spin and wrote "Who Says 30 Sucks?!" instead. I bought the basket and silver filler from the Dollar Store. The DumDum suckers were from Target and I stuck 30 of them into a block of green craft foam from Hobby Lobby. A quick type up on the computer with scrapbook paper and ribbon finished off this cheap gag gift. It only took me a few minutes and about $5 to make. I think she'll find it funny (or at least I hope so).

Fall Family Photos

My mother is an excellent photographer and I take advantage of having professional pictures for a great price (free). She is very talented and I like to think I get my love for the arts from her. Which is one of the reasons why I don't have a lot of pictures of myself with the kids, because I am always the one behind the camera trying to catch every precious moment. It's also because as a mom of two young children, I rarely have time to shower let alone fix my hair and makeup. I'm very critical of my appearance post-babies and usually find pictures of myself unflattering. However, I've realized that if something were to ever happen to me, God forbid, my children would be too young to remember what their mother looks like and it's important to have pictures of myself with them. So, after finding some beautiful shots of other families on Pinterest, I decided it was time to try the poses out on our family. I fixed my hair, did my makeup, put on a sweater I bought right before I found out I was pregnant last fall and headed to a local trail to take advantage of the beautiful scenery. Here are just a few of the many pictures taken.

Pizza Balls

About a week ago, my sister was staying with us and wanted to do appetizers for dinner. I told her about a recipe I found on pinterest and had already bought the ingredients. They looked simple enough so I couldn't wait to try them out. If they were as good as they looked maybe I could make them for a football party.

I was pleased with the results. They were so simple and easy to make. We dipped them in pizza sauce to make them even more delicious. The recipe is below and I only deviated slightly by added a few more pieces of pepperoni and using mozarella cheese instead. I also didn't make quite as many since there was only three of us, but the recipe can easily be adjusted depending on the number of people being served.

Recipe
3 cans Pillsbury Buttermilk Biscuits (10 per can)
56 pepperoni slices
1 block Colby cheese
1 beaten egg
Parmesan, Italian seasoning, and garlic powder

Cut block of cheese into 30 pieces. Flaten out a biscuit and stack pepperoni and cheese on top. Gather up the edges of the biscuit. Line up the biscuits in a greased 9x13 pan. Brush with beaten egg. Sprinkle on top parmesan, Italian seasoning, and garlic powder. Bake at 425 degrees for 18-20minutes
